Does eating rice really make you fat?

It is the portion and what goes with it, not rice itself.

Weight gain comes from eating more calories than you use over time, not from one food. Rice is a normal staple for billions of people.

What matters

Portion size, what shares the plate (dal, vegetables, fish or eggs), and how active you are.

A simple plate

Half vegetables, a quarter rice, a quarter protein. Cooked and cooled rice, brown rice and extra fibre can help you feel full for longer. Values on this site are approximate.
